People don’t buy “what” you do but “why” you do it…..

July 24, 2011

On the summer of 1963, 250,000 people showed up to see Dr. Martin Luther King – there were no invitations sent out or website to view, how did that happen?

How do great leaders inspire action and how do some companies inspire some individuals to wait in line for 7 hours to buy a product even though the week after they could walk into the store and buy it then?

In the following video, Simon Sinek explains the golden circle:

Sarah Kay: If I should have a daughter…

April 28, 2011

Two weeks ago, I had an opportunity to attend the “Inspire Together” fundraiser. At the fundraiser, we heard a performer use spoken word poetry to deliver his message to the group. Sarah Soares created this not profit organization to create a movement to help individuals less fortunate than themselves – further information can be found at: Inspire Together

Last week, I came across the following video and since then have watched it 5 times! Sarah Kay, also uses spoken word poetry to speak to her audience in a delightful and meaningful way. The video is approximately 18 minutes in length and its worth it! She received two standing ovations.

Perspectives

March 23, 2011

I saw Alvin Law recently speak. If you haven’t heard him before, he is not only engaging but has a unique way to talk about life perspectives.

Perspective is everything.

Can you imagine if you were asked this same question, everyday, five times a day, for your entire life? I am sure some of us would get irritated and angered. I am sure some of us get irritated or angered if someone asks us to repeat something once.

Power of Leverage

July 7, 2010

At a Real Estate investment network meeting, we were presented with a great simple worksheet on Real Estate investing and the ROI on this investment.

Referring to the example provided, if an individual purchased a home at a price of $240,000 and made a 25% down payment on the property (typically 20% is required) then a mortgage of $180,000 would be required. If you took a mortgage at 35 year amortization rate and we took an interest rate of 6% (current variable rate is approximately 2.25%) and you held the property for 10 years, your ROI is approximately 15% per year with a cumulative return of 172.5% over 10 years.
