Are you an Entrepreneur?

by Vishal on December 29, 2010

Have you ever googled the word entrepreneur? Approximately 350,000,000 items come up!

On a recent google search, I came across the following information:

Globally most entrepreneurs tend to be between 24-34 years of age, male (~65%) and employed while starting their own business. Based on a study done by Schumpeter (Czech economist) he mentioned that generally higher levels of entrepreneurship are found in lower income/developing countries. Ecuador, Peru, Uganda are among the highest in entrepreneurship while Japan and Belgium are among the lowest. Canada and United States are seen to have moderate levels with approximately 10-18%.

Overall, studies have found that entrepreneurs have high evidence of the following skill sets:

- Openness to experience, emotional stability, conscientiousness
- Generalized self-efficacy, innovativeness, need for autonomy, proactive personality
- Need for achievement
- Risk propensity
- And low on agreeableness 
